Organizing with tags

Tags are free-form labels you attach to articles. Unlike folders, an article can carry as many tags as you like.

Managing tags

• Open Tags in the sidebar. Type a name in the first row and press Enter to create one.
• Each tag gets one of five tones, shown as a dot beside its name. Keep the one ReadHiiv suggests, or pick another as you create it.
• Rename a tag where it stands, or right-click it to change its tone or delete it.
• Tag an article while saving from the extension, from its right-click menu, or many at once from a selection.
• Click a tag to see everything carrying it. Any list can also be narrowed to one tag from its View options.

A tagging system that scales

A handful of broad, stable tags ("work", "longform", "to-quote") beats dozens of one-off ones. You can always search full text — tags are for the groupings search cannot infer.
